Job summary
To assist the Materials Management Team leader in the provision of an effective inventory managed service for designated areas across the trust, and to other NHS trusts with which there is a service level agreement.
Operating within broad procedural guidelines and working to pre-determined timetables the objective is to ensure a timely and effective stock top-up service to designated areas. A measure of independent judgement and decision making will be required from time to time as most of the working day will be spent at ward level.
The postholder will plan and undertake quarterly stock/non-stock ordering reviews with the ward/departmental lead to standardise and rationalise product lines, and to discuss other value for money initiatives. The role will develop in line with the Trust's inventory management initiatives
Main duties of the job
Visit Wards/Depts. within Wirral Hospital Trust and Clatterbridge Centre for Oncology as per the schedule laid down by the Materials Management Team Leader.
Count the current stock and scan the data onto the bar-code machine.
The timely upload of data from the bar code machines into the central computer system and verification of data.
Determine customer requirements (levels) with Budget holder in line with the schedule laid down by the Materials Management Team Leader. This is done quarterly to meet audit requirements.
Maintain Barcode data in conjunction with above.
Ensure the layout of storage areas is consistent with departmental policy.
Maintain labelling in a clear and concise manner.
Check goods received against picking lists and ensure that products are put away in designated areas
Report any discrepancies to the relevant Goods Distribution Centres Supervisors.
Reporting of product mis-picks and oversight of prompt return.
Process orders via the NHS Supplychain online computer system EDC platform and Oracle i-Proc to meet designated deadlines.
Process requests for unscheduled deliveries.
Analyse purchasing and usage patterns to determine optimum stock levels, and to support value for money initiatives.
Maintain accurate records and filing systems.
Maintain the assigned personal digital assistant (PDA) including weekly update of requirements and catalogues.
Organisation and planning for predicted ordering to cover periods of absence, public holidays and variances.
