A post has become available for a consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist to augment our enthusiastic, innovative and dedicated team of consultants
We would particularly value additional expertise in oncology and an interest in colposcopy, vulval medicine, advanced laparoscopy or ambulatory gynaecology would be desirable.
Main duties of the job
The post-holder should ideally hold an RCOG ATSM in Oncology or have significant experience in oncology or rapid diagnosis of suspected cancers. Adequate evidence of general gynaecology scanning or outpatient hysteroscopy, including rapid diagnostics for suspected gynaecological cancer cases would also be desirable.
In addition to the acute gynaecology workload, the successful applicant would be expected to take a lead in the Rapid Diagnostic Service (RDS) established in 2022 and which has acted as a pilot site for RDS for the region. Wirral University Teaching Hospital is the leading regional performer in terms of FDS target attainment and we are looking for a consultant to provide leadership and support training provision for the service.

If successful in this role, there is a requirement for you to have a standard/enhanced DBS. This will be paid for by the Trust and then deducted from your salary over a period of 3 month.
As this vacancy is within the division of Womens and Childrens, there is a mandatory requirement for successful applicants to join the DBS update service. The cost of joining the update service is £13 per year, and applicants are liable to cover this cost with no reimbursement from the Trust. Further details of how to join the update service will be provided upon appointment.
