Specialist Dietitian - Renal

Job summary

We are looking for a Dietitian (Band 6) with good communication skills and a high degree of enthusiasm, flexibility and commitment to join our team within renal . This is an exciting opportunity for a proficient Band 5 or Band 6 wishing to gain further experience. Previous renal experience would be desirable although it is not essential. You will be given regular supervision and support from the experienced renal and diabetes teams as well as appropriate training opportunities.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will work across both in patients and out patients and will gain specialist knowledge and skills to covering 3 days in Renal specialities. This would include CKD, AKI, and dialysis.

You will work as part of the wider MDT alongside both renal consultants, specialist nurses and pharmacists. The post holder will be regularly involved in the education of students, health care professionals and support workers.

We are a student training department, committed to the training of B and C placement students. You would be actively involved in the training programme.

Qualifications, Specific Experience & Training

Essential

  • Degree or Post Graduate Diploma in Nutrition and Dietetics
  • Current registration with the Health Professions Council
  • Minimum of 1 year post qualification experience including a period of supervised practice with senior dietitians to develop skills necessary for the clinical specialist area

Knowledge and skills

Essential

  • Excellent communication skills, both written & verbal.
  • Ability to work as a member of the Multidisciplinary Team.

Desirable

  • General IT skills.
  • Good level of clinical knowledge in core dietetic areas, including a high level of clinical reasoning skills
  • Experience in evidence based practice or audit.
  • Good level of understanding of patient needs and customer care.
  • Knowledge of key NHS initiatives and goals
  • Post registration validated training in either gastro, resp med, diabetes, or cardiology
