Job summary

Applications are welcome for a brand new role within the cardiology service at WUTH.

The successful applicant will co-ordinate the development of nursing within the Cardiology Service working in partnership with the established consultant led medical team.

The role will strengthen clinical leadership and develop new and innovative methods of care. The post holder will act as a clinical expert, advisor and a resource for nurses, doctors and other health professionals within the In-reach and e-referrals system to improve the care of Cardiology patients. The role will support the expertise offered by current Cardiology Specialist Nurses, Advanced Nurse Practitioner, including supporting and training current and future members of the Cardiology nursing team. As an autonomous practitioner the Nurse Consultant will utilise advanced clinical skills and expertise, to help develop and deliver acute services and clinical interventions.

Qualifications, Specific Experience & Training

Essential

  • Registered general nurse educated to degree level (or equivalent)
  • ALS course
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in speciality at Clinical Nurse Specialist level demonstrating competencies in the range of skills necessary to meet the needs of the service
  • Appropriate clinical examination qualification (degree level)
  • Appropriate prescribing qualification to prescribe medication within the speciality (degree level)

Desirable

  • Evidence of academic education to MSc level
  • Qualification in teaching and assessing
  • Published research
