Job summary
Applicants are invited for a full time (10 PA) replacement Consultant Nephrologist to join the Nephrology service at Wirral University Teaching Hospitals (NHS) Foundation Trust (WUTH). The successful candidate will form part of a team of 5 Substantive Consultant Nephrologists.
The new appointee will be expected to have a broad based nephrology background. Applicants with sub specialty skills / interest in medical PD insertion and home therapies would be welcomed but are not essential.
The post holder will be employed by WUTH but will also carry out work (including outpatient clinics and dialysis reviews) at the Countess of Chester NHS Foundation Trust.
The post-holder should have a CCT or equivalent in nephrology or be within 6 months of being awarded one.

The contract assumes 8 PAs allocated as direct patient care (6 DCC and 2 nDCC) and 2 SPAs. This would include teaching and training of junior doctors, CPD, audit, etc. Additional PAs are available to meet service needs and can be agreed upon appointment should the candidate desire.
The post-holder is involved in a one week in five on call rota. During this week the Consultant Nephrologist is on call for all nephrology inpatients at Arrowe Park Hospital and reviews any inpatient referrals at the Countess of Chester Hospital.
Outpatient clinics include general nephrology, haemodialysis reviews, low clearance and transplant.
