Job summary
We are excited to be advertising for a Paediatric Governance and Quality Manager. We are seeking an experienced nurse with a strong interest in governance and quality to progress the patient safety agenda.
It is an exciting time to join the Paediatric team at Walsall due to the expansion and progression of the service. PAU is housed in a state-of-the-art purpose-built unit; the unit is leading the way in progressing virtual wards and a new team structure is creating a new dynamic way of team working. We are leading the way with digital innovation.
The Paediatric department includes of a 21-inpatient ward, a 12 bedded PAU, an elective day care unit, a virtual ward, children community nursing team and outpatient's department.

The role will forms part of the Senior Nursing team within paediatrics and neonates including the on-call rota.
Main duties of the job
The Post holder will be the principal link between the Paediatric and Neonatal Care Group team and the Divisional Governance team within the Trust to help ensure a consistent and co-joined approach to both the departmental, Care Group, Divisional and Trust wide quality assessments.
The post holder will manage, promote, facilitate and co-ordinate governance and risk management (clinical and non-clinical) activity across the Paediatric; in-patient settings, out-patient settings and in community services (relating to paediatric services).
The post holder will develop a positive culture towards proactive patient safety throughout the organisation. They will work closely with the Lead Paediatricians, Matron, Senior Sisters and the Care Group team, Divisional Director of Nursing, members of the divisional governance team, and the trust wide governance department.
The post holder will be a key member of a core group of identified staff who will have responsibility for direct liaison with external assessors
The post holder will provide leadership, advice, guidance and support to directors, managers, clinicians and staff on governance and risk management issues that affect the organisation, its employees and service users relating to paediatric concerns.
The postholder will work closely with the Governance Manager for Neonates and support neonatal unit in their absence.
The post forms part of the senior nurse on call rota for the Care Group.
