The posts offers a prescribing pharmacist with a grounding in clinical skills and opportunity to be involved in an enhanced service within this specialism for Walsall. Successful applicants can expect to receive training to enable them to deliver an innovative practitioner role within emergency medicine in supportive environment where training in Advanced Practice and your accreditation on the RPS Advanced Specialist Curriculum will be encouraged.

In 2023, our emergency services department underwent a £40m refurbishmentto form our new Urgentand EmergencyCare Centre so there has never been a more exciting time to join the Emergency and Acute Care Directorate to shape and influence the care our patients receive.This role will be an excellent fit for those who show an appreciation for service development due to the ongoing current transformation of the pharmacy provision within the Emergency Care department.

Main duties of the job

Key responsibilities for the posts will include:

o Developing and providing a clinical practitioner service to patients presenting in A&E

o Providing a specialist advisory service on medicines usage at ward and consultant level.

o Undertaking complex medication reviews and contributing to the MDT assessment

o Partaking in discharge planning and patient counselling whilst arranging for referrals via the national Discharge Medicines Service scheme.

o Assessing and identifying key areas for service development and expansion in conjunction with the Lead Pharmacist for Emergency Care

o Acting as a mentor and role model for junior pharmacists rotating through emergency care

o Post holders will be required to undertake weekend, bank holidays shifts and late nights on a rota basis.

o experience of pro-actively influencing prescribing and medicines management within a secondary care environment

o hold a post graduate clinical diploma

o hold (or currently working towards) an independent prescribing qualification

o To always go above and beyond for the team to ensure a collaborative approach in all that we do.
