Band 4 Support worker

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a band 4 support worker who is passionate about Podiatry . Walsall Podiatry team has won Team of the Year in the past and in 2020 were shortlisted by the Health Service Journal for their work in managing the Diabetic foot. They have also won awards for their work with peripheral arterial disease and education in Nursing Homes. This year one of our Team won AHP of the Year for both Walsall healthcare Trust and for The Black Country. Our team also this year won Best Team for Quality Improvement.

Main duties of the job

To provide foothealth care to patients within clinical settings and at the patient,s home.

To support the Podiatrist within the clinic.

To input data and make records.

To be able to maintain the foothealth of patients and give foothealth advice whether in the home or in clinical environments. This will involve the use of sterile instruments and the use of dressings to redress wounds.

To be able to assist in theatre alongside the Podiatrist and to assist in the podiatry lab with regards to clinical treatments.

To be able to carry out routine procedures in taking blood pressures and podiatry treatments,

To work under the guidance and support of qualified podiatrists in podiatry clinics, patients homes and nursing/residential homes, performing foot health assessment on patients with diverse presentations and complex physical and psychological conditions, and to deliver individualised treatment programmes

To drive as part of their weekly schedule of delivery of care from their normal base to either a fixed place of work or to patients homes.

To be exposed to unpleasant working condition e.g. unpleasant odours and in patients homes, potentially smoky atmospheres and confined spaces.

To adapt their clinical practice to the physical environment (eg. Working in a locality clinic instead of at base)
