Job summary

We have an exciting opportunity to lead post-registration clinical practice education, contribute to the delivery of high quality practice learning for the Health Visiting and School Nursing.

The post will be part of the professional development unit team however will have a key role in support education and development for the HCP 0-19 team. This role will help to deliver the exciting vision to deliver a first class, high quality service to children, young people and families across Walsall. The post holder will work closely with the professional leads for HCP 0-19 and the Quality Lead Nurse for HCP 0-19 to support the re modelling and development of a skilled mix workforce.

Main duties of the job

As the lead for post-registration clinical practice education, contribute to the delivery of high quality practice learning for the Health Visiting and School Nursing.

Ensure the HCP 0-19 service workforce is equipped to work as part of the Integrated Care System to lead delivery of the Healthy Child Programme (HCP).

You will ensure that the service compiles with all of the pre and post-registration practice education requirements in order to meet the various national and professional body requirements including NHS England & Improvements (NHS E&I)), Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC), Health & Care Professions Council (HCPC), and Health Education England (HEE) for Nursing, Midwifery, Allied Health Professionals and Nursing associates.

To lead, support, facilitate and enhance the continued professional development programme which contributes to provision of evidenced based care, quality improvement and research through competency and skill enhancement.

To support the Post registration coordinator coordinate activities and training packages within the Health Visiting and School Nursing service.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

Co-ordination of FunctionTo manage and ensure co-ordination of continued professional development activities for all healthcare clinical staff that prepares them to provide evidence based care, quality improvement and research activities with positive patient outcomes as the core principle.

To lead on communication and liaison strategies with key stakeholders in order to ensure that evidenced based care outcomes are best achieved.

Post-Registration Health Care clinical Staff Programme

To develop an annual Continuous Professional Development plan in collaboration with Practice Development Nurses/Midwife, Allied Health Professions and Divisional leads that supports a culture of quality improvement and research.

To support delivery of the Health Visitor and School Nurse Induction Programme for the service.

To coordinate the delivery of staff development programmes and ensure equity of opportunity for staff CPD across all bands.

To manage any interfacing operational or quality issues that contribute or impact on Clinical care relevant to staff competence and professional development needs.

To support Clinical academic link roles, Practice Development roles and Departmental Managers to provide an effective work environment that promotes continuous learning and development.

Training

To support divisional leads and staff to manage the compliance and maintenance of mandatory training feeding into corporate training leads challenges and changes in statutory and mandatory training requirements.Work in conjunction with the Trust, Divisional leads and the wider health visiting team to produce specific training plans to address competence as required.

Develop training materials utilizing a variety of teaching methods in order to meet the needs of differing levels and types of healthcare staff.

To support and facilitate competence action plans within the clinical setting/classroom as required in order to support identified competence and capability pathway.

Maintain and manage records of training and clinical support and evaluate training/teaching sessions.

Evaluate CPD learning experiences, capacity, and overall practice development provision and complete an annual report of effectiveness.

AssessmentTo contribute to, support or carry out, the delivery of Health Visitor and School Nurse specific training.

Work with Professional Development coordinator for learners to deliver practice supervisor and assessor updates.Advise professional lead of and support any staff members identified as in need of additional support to develop competence in a particular skill.

Quality Control
