Job summary

To work towards as a Band 6 Occupational therapist on successful completion of specific stroke specialist competencies within agreed time frame within Integrated Community stroke Rehabilitation Services. To provide a high standard of occupational therapy service to the stroke rehabilitation services, this involves working alone as part of a multi-disciplinary team within residential and community settings.

To work as a member of a multi-disciplinary, multi-agency rehabilitation team, providing an evidence-based Occupational Therapy service for adults with a stroke

To use specialist clinical skills to assess and deliver Occupational Therapy intervention to service users with highly complex needs.

To provide support to the Assistant Practitioners/Technical Instructors via supervision and Professional Development Review.

To act as an accredited fieldwork educator for Occupational Therapy Students on placement

To work collaboratively with and to provide technical support to colleagues within community stroke rehabilitation services

Main duties of the job

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Specialist Occupational Therapist- band 5/6 development post in Stroke to join the Walsall Community Stroke Team. The team provides rehabilitation for adults with a stroke in a variety of settings such as clinics, inpatient units or in the client's own home.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and innovative Occupational Therapist with experience in stroke/ neurological assessment and rehabilitation. You will also be required to work independently in a community setting, therefore experience of working with a community rehabilitation team is also desirable.

You will need excellent leadership, communication, organisational and supervision skills and sound clinical knowledge, but enthusiasm and the potential to develop these within the post will also be valued.

You will be required to work closely with the Clinical Lead, Team Leader and senior occupational therapist for Stroke care services and contribute to driving forward the development of high quality Specialist Stroke Services for residents of Walsall, participating in evidence based projects and service evaluations.

Applicants must have a current Health Profession Council registration. Supervision, personal development reviews and professional development opportunities are available and CPD is supported and actively encouraged.

About us
