Main duties of the job
We are seeking a Trainee Advanced Clinical Practitioner (tACP) to join the SDEC team and commit to undertaking an MSc in Advanced Clinical Practice. Whilst working in the department, you will be provided with a Senior ACP and AIM Consultant to act as clinical mentors. The Medical and Long-Term Conditions (MLTC) Division has recently strengthened all aspects of its tACP training programme to include weekly supervision for trainees. The SDEC currently has one Senior ACP, two qualified ACPs and three tACPs that will support your assimilation into the emergency care team.
The post holder will have a minimum of 3 years of previous experience working in acute or emergency care. Clinically, the role encompasses the requirement to learn how to manage patients' care plans presented to the acute medical team for review. The post holder will also be expected to develop research and teaching skills that support the further development of junior staff in the MLTC division.
The post holder will be required to learn a full range of acute medical practice procedures and have high standards of communication skills which will provide assurance to all aspects of management, leadership and quality of care. The post holder will be willing to undertake portfolios of practice defined by Health Education England and supported by the Royal College of Physicians.
About us
In December 2018 the Government announced £36m of funding to build a new Emergency Department and 30 bedded Acute Medical Unit. The ED team are working with Interserve Construction on this state-of-the-art development to help us meet increasing patient flow demands. The new Emergency Department will offer a combined Urgent Treatment Centre and a co-located Paediatric Assessment Unit as part of the Paediatric Emergency Department.
