Job summary

Walsall Healthcare NHS Trust has an exciting opportunity for individuals who wish to pursue a career in Physiotherapy, but do not wish to proceed through a conventional higher education route.

We are offering a position as an Apprentice Physiotherapist, which will entail part time clinical work with the Walsall Manor Hospital therapy team, and part time degree level study with Coventry University.

Successful candidates will work as Therapy Support Workers while undergoing their studies, this will enable them to apply the knowledge gained during their Physiotherapy course.

This is a fantastic opportunity to qualify as an Physiotherapist, without committing to full time University Study, providing the ability to earn whilst gaining a professional qualification.

The entry requirements are non-negotiable, so we advise candidates to check the attached person specification carefully, to ensure they have the requisite qualifications to apply for degree level study. All level 2 & 3 courses with grades must be included in the application, in order to be shortlisted.

After passing an interview with Walsall Management, candidates must then pass an interview with the University before they can be offered the position.

Main duties of the job

To undertake support work, to aid the assessment, treatment and rehabilitation of patients under the direction of the registered therapist. To ensure the treatment areas and equipment are ready for use.

This role also entails working alongside qualified Physiotherapists to assist in the application of knowledge gained from University Attendance.

The post holder must uphold both their clinical workplace commitments and those for their academic study, completing all necessary work by the deadline and completing clinical placements to a satisfactory level. Ongoing progression in University study is essential for this position, employment will be unable to continue without academic attendance and eventual degree level qualification

The BSc integrated degree apprenticeship is afour-year course requiring a combination of day release (approximately one day a week).

The MSc degree apprenticeship is a two-year course requiring a combination of day release (approximately two days a week).

Both programmes include clinical practice placements which are full time for their duration.
