Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Audio Visual and Simulation Technician to join ourEducation Centre team at Walsall Healthcare NHS Trust.

This is a fixed term post for 12 months.

The role of the Audio Visual and Simulation Technician will focus on providing AV services across the Education Centre, in the first instance concentrating on supporting and dealing with day-to-day AV troubleshooting, related IT and simulation equipment.

They will ensure that all necessary equipment is available to supporteducation and training activities for learners, assisting in the preparation and creation of teaching resource materials as required.

Main duties of the job

Lead in the provision of audio-visual and IT equipment to support the delivery of education and training for undergraduate and postgraduate teaching.

To work with the clinical skills lead to maintain an accurate inventory of equipment, ensuring all equipment is well maintained and stored safely within the laboratory.

Job description

Job responsibilities

  • Undertake basic maintenance such as replacing projector bulbs, microphones, batteries etc.
  • Liaise directly with the IT engineers to diagnose problems on audio-visual/IT systems and take appropriate action.
  • Work closely with internal and external customers to determine their equipment needs for their event.
  • Support with the set-up of audio-visual equipment for training sessions and meetings prior to use e.g. teleconferencing equipment and video links systems.
  • To be responsible for the set-up, testing, operating, dismantling and maintenance of all digital and audio-visual equipment.
  • Observe signals during live link-ups, making changes to gain maximum control for optimum video signal and acoustical levels as required.
  • Provide technical know-how and expertise in own area of work to support the digital development and quality improvement of the education centre.
  • To work with the clinical skills lead to maintain an accurate inventory of equipment, ensuring all equipment is well maintained and stored safely within the laboratory.
