Job summary
We have an exciting opportunity for qualified nurses to join our innovative and forward thinking School Nursing team.
We are recruiting either specialist practitioner school nurses (SCPHN) and staff nurses
We are able to offer full time or part time working, either term time only or all year around. Our hours of work are 8.30-5.30 Monday to Friday. During this time you will work a 7.5 or 3.75 hour shift. We offer flexibility of working hours within our shift patterns. E.g. For those applying for a part time role we can offer 7.5 hour days or 1/2 days by sessions e.g. 3.75 hours shifts between 8.30-12.45 and/or 1.15- 5.00
To be eligible to be considered for a SCPHN School Nurse post you will be on part 3 of the NMC register and hold either
- A Specialist practice qualification for School Nursingor
- A Specialist practice qualification for Health Visiting with a transfer of fields module or willing to undertake this module
Main duties of the job
You will be joining a forward thinking and innovative team of SCPHN'S staff nurses, nursery nurses, clinical support works, apprentices and administrative staff. We work in close collaboration with our partner in Education, Childrens Services and the voluntary sector. We provide a wide core offer across all elements of the Healthy Child Programme, including an extensive digital offer including children and young peoples websites and parent and Teen text services as part of our single point of access.

As a SCPHN
- A named nurse to a number of secondary and primary schools and will lead of the coordination of and delivery of our services in these schools.
- You will have a lead area of the Healthy Child Programme which you will be responsible for the development, implementation and evaluation of this area
- You will manage a caseload of children and young people.
As a Staff Nurse we will support you to grow and develop within you role.
Managing a caseload of children and young people- Deliver health education and provide teacher training session
- Operate our single point of access
- Support children and young people with continence problems
- Supporting children on child protection plans and children in care.
- You will be part of a team of SCPHNs who work in one of the 4 Early Help Locality Hubs for part of each week and lead on offering a range of services from the hubs including consultations, drops in and health assessments
