Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a full-time Band 2 Receptionist to join the Endoscopy Department at Dorset County Hospital. We are looking for enthusiastic, capable and motivated individuals who will take pride in delivering high-quality administrative support within a patient-focused environment.

As a key member of our team, you will work closely with both clinical and administrative colleagues to ensure the smooth and efficient running of the service.

This is a fast-paced role that requires flexibility, strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks with attention to detail. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential, as you will be interacting with patients, relatives and staff throughout the day

Please note that applying for this role means you will also be considered for our Outpatient Administrator role also currently being advertised.

Main duties of the job

Main Duties of the Job

  • Welcoming patients to the Endoscopy Department and providing a friendly, professional first point of contact
  • Accurately marking patient attendance and discharge on relevant systems
  • Requesting, receiving and tracking medical records in line with Trust procedures
  • Printing, filing and preparing documentation to support clinical activity
  • Responding to face-to-face and telephone enquiries in a helpful and efficient manner
  • Supporting the wider administrative and clinical team to ensure smooth day-to-day operations

  • GCSE's or equivalent including English and Maths

KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE

Essential

  • Recent experience in an office, reception, or administrative role with examples
  • Experience of managing both face-to-face and telephone enquiries, and how you would prioritise?
  • A clear understanding of confidentiality and data protection, and how to deal with sensitive information

Desirable

  • Experience and demonstrable examples of working in a healthcare or clinical environment
  • Practical experience using digital systems such as Microsoft Office
