Lead Mammographer

Job summary

We are looking to recruit an experienced, highly motivated and enthusiastic Mammographer to lead our mammography team at Dorset County Hospital. The individual will be a hardworking and dedicated Mammographer with a keen interest to extend their own professional portfolio with the skills to support and develop the symptomatic breast service at DCH. DCH has close links with the Dorset Breast Screening Programme with scope for development of cross site working in the future.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will be part of a multi-disciplinary breast team and will work in both clinical and admin roles, supporting the operational delivery of the mammography service. They will have clinical expertise and leadership skills appropriate to this grade and post, with excellent communication skills to be able to manage their own workload whilst delegating tasks and organisation of junior colleagues.

The applicant must have a UK Postgraduate Award in Mammography Practice (formerly the Certificate of Competence in Mammography) and at least 3 years mammography experience.

This is an exciting opportunity, and we are committed to delivering an excellent service with a patient centred approach to our population of symptomatic breast patients including biopsy, VAB and localisation with Magseeds.

The Diagnostic Imaging Department was rated GOOD by the CQC and has achieved the Quality Standard for Imaging UKAS Accreditation. The symptomatic breast service is provided at the main Dorset County Hospital site in Dorchester, delivering services for the population of West Dorset and beyond.

Dorset County hospital is in the small county town of Dorchester. Dorset is famed for its scenery and rugged coastline most of which is protected by World Heritage as an area of outstanding natural beauty and is a prime holiday location with the population doubling in the summer months and offers excellent recreational facilities both land and water based.
