Job summary

We have an exciting opportunity for a Dietitian with a particular interest in Renal Dietetics or experience in this field to join our supportive renal dietetic service and an expanding Dietetic service. We are a friendly and innovative team and you will be provided with lots of networking opportunities along with regular CPD and peer support.

You will be a key member of the Dorset County Hospital Kidney Multidisciplinary team. The service covers Dorset County Hospital inpatients, clinics and dialysis units in Dorchester, South Somerset (Yeovil) and in East Dorset (Poole & Bournemouth) as part of the Dorset Renal Service.

This is a permanent position 37.5 hours per week, Monday-Friday (although part time or job share may be considered).

We will also consider, for the right candidate, a development band 5/6 renal dietitian post

Main duties of the job

You will work with a fantastic and forward thinking team of Renal Consultants, Specialist Nurses, Administrators, Podiatrists and Healthcare Assistants. You will be based with them at Dorset County Hospital in the beautiful County town of Dorchester, with outreach to other local hospitals. You will also be part of the Trust's Dietetic department, benefitting from easy access to and peer support from Dietitians working across a range of specialities.

  • As an HCPC registered Dietitian, provide expert renal service to the MDT.
  • Engage with, advise and train other healthcare professionals involved in the care of renal patients.
  • Influencing on developing renal dietetic services through Quality Improvement projects.
  • Work as a member of the Dietetic Department, in the promotion of a high-quality patient-focused service and contributing to service development and cover.

Essential

  • BSc in Human Nutrition & Dietetics or equivalent qualification as a dietician
  • Current registered dietitian status with HCPC

Desirable

  • Basic training in communication and behaviour change
  • Clinical supervisory skills course
  • Teaching qualification or experience of delivering education to groups
  • Evidence of CPD
  • Basic management training

Experience

  • Minimum 18months - 2 years post registration experience working in the NHS

Desirable

  • Wide-ranging clinical and dietetic experience, including some in acute nutritional support, renal, diabetes and gastroenterology
