Job summary

Digital change within the NHS is gathering pace, and a key pillar in delivering change at Dorset County Hospital is the Software Development team. The team work closely with clinicians and operational teams and use their detailed domain knowledge to develop meaningful solutions that support the organisation in realising its digital ambitions.

The work of the team is broad and varied, and in an ever-changing healthcare landscape a pragmatic and flexible attitude is essential. The team supports many disciplines - clinical systems, business intelligence, operational systems, integration, support, infrastructure, and more. The post holder will get involved in all areas of the team's work, and continuously inspect, adapt, and evolve.

The post holder will be required to learn new skills, to innovate, to get involved in projects large and small, and contribute to the future direction of the team and how it operates.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be expected to:

  • Identify and log acceptance criteria and test cases
  • Plan testing activities
  • Write test scripts
  • Evidence tests outcomes
  • Raise defects and support their resolution
  • Curate test data and assist with configuration and state of test environments
  • Facilitate user acceptance testing
  • Participate in design workshops
  • Provide updates to project teams and senior staff, and participate in development reviews and demonstrations
  • Support the ongoing operation of systems developed and maintained by the team
  • Participate in defining and refining the team's standards, practices, and methodology
  • Exhibit good agile behaviours and have a positive impact on the team
