Job summary
- To provide a co-ordinated, highly effective training service for the pharmacy department and other areas within the Trust.
- To develop & co-ordinate a strategic approach to all training activities within the pharmacy department.
- To contribute to education and training services and developments affecting pharmacy staff in the South & West region.
- Delivery of a highly specialised clinical pharmacy service to promote the safe, rational and cost-effective use of medicines, through personal practice and the training of other staff.
- To provide highly specialised clinical pharmacy services within a designated area of expertise.
- To provide support, as required, to the dispensary services, medicine information services and medicines management programme.
- To act as a non-medical prescriber in accordance with Trust policy and professional, regulatory and national guidance, to independently manage own case-load of patients.
Main duties of the job
- To be responsible for co-ordination and development of ongoing rotational programme for junior pharmacists.
- To act as lead mentor for pharmacists studying for postgraduate certificate or diploma.
- To train, mentor and assess pre-registration trainee pharmacists General Pharmaceutical Council requirements.
- To liaise with education and training leads from other professions within the Trust and to deliver or delegate training in areas such as therapeutics for non-pharmacy staff.
- To co-ordinate and contribute to delivery of departmental contributions to the Junior Doctor Training.
