Job summary

This is an exciting opportunity foran enthusiastic, ambitious and highly motivated speciality doctor to join our Trauma & Orthopaedics team, based at Dorset County Hospital .

Applicants should have full GMC registration and a licence to practice with the General Medical Council.

Main duties of the job

  • To provide inpatient and outpatient Trauma and Orthopaedic services and to provide additional support to the lower limb arthroplasty services
  • To be part of a Multidisciplinary Team, which include Consultants in Anaesthetics and Rheumatology (pain service), Radiology, Pathology and Elderly Care, nursing staff, physiotherapists and Occupational Therapists.
  • To contribute to the training of Higher and Basic Surgical Trainees and other professional team members.
  • To ensure a high level of efficiency and effectiveness in the provision of patient care.
  • To fulfil continuing professional development requirements in line with clinical governance.
  • To develop special interests to enhance what is currently undertaken in the department.
  • To participate in audit and other areas of Directorate responsibility.
  • To participate in audit and other areas of the Care Group responsibility.
  • To attend and actively participate in monthly education meetings.

  • Higher UK clinical qualification e.g. MRCS or overseas equivalent

Experience

  • 5 years clinical experience in Orthopaedics at SPR or equivalent
  • Experience demonstrating ability to cope with the demands of a DGH based T&O doctor
  • Experience in undertaking OP clinics and trauma lists
