Main duties of the job
To undertake unsupervised general building tasks and to carry out general maintenance of the hospital estate together with repairs to fabric, fixtures and fittings, that do not justify the attention of a fully qualified tradesperson and to undertake a wide range of planned maintenance duties.
Decorating experience: plasterboard repairs, skimming & filling, stain blocking, emulsion & gloss works.

EDUCATION, QUALIFICATIONS & TRAINING
Essential
- City & Guilds qualification, NVQ3
- Qualification or certification in Health and Safety, e.g., Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS), Health and Safety passport scheme
- A recognised qualification in the building trades
Desirable
- A customer service qualification
- First Aid qualification
EXPERIENCE
Essential
- Recent and significant post qualification experience, preferably within a healthcare environment.
- Experience of working to deadlines and prioritising own workload
- Decorating experience: plasterboard repairs, skimming & filling, stain blocking, emulsion & gloss works.
Desirable
- Experienced on working on large estates in complex working environments
SPECIFIC SKILLS/ KNOWLEDGE
Essential
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Working knowledge of the application of Health & Safety legislation in regard to general maintenance areas.
- Construction and maintenance skills, including familiarity with the relevant regulations and guidance.
- Understand, interpret and create drawings, specifications, schedules and plans
Desirable
- Ability to work on own initiative
- IT literate, e.g., email, MS Office, CAFM software.
