Are you an aspiring Digital Lead Pharmacist, either working in the field already, or keen to know more?

Dorset County Hospital NHSFT and Dorset Healthcare University NHSFT are looking for a registered Pharmacist who is interested in the Digital Medicines for a progressive B7 to 8a Digital Pharmacist role. Successful applicants will be mentored by the B8b Digital Lead Pharmacist, and supported to progress into a Digital Lead Pharmacist role by the Digital team and wider Pharmacy teams across the two organisations.

Main duties of the job

Working across both Dorset County Hospital and Dorset Healthcare University Hospital:

  • To line manage the Principal Pharmacy Technician for Pharmacy Systems and to provide managerial, professional, and clinical oversight of Pharmacy Systems (JAC/CMM, EPMA, PTS, AeroScout).
  • To optimise the existing EPMA system by developing analytical tools to support patient care such as clinical prioritisation and performance dashboards .To support the Medicines Optimisation work programme for the Medicines Committee.
  • To support the pharmacy clinical audit programme.
  • To support the System wide Digital Medicine Strategy and the development of a Single Medication Record for the system.
  • To participate in the provision of the clinical pharmacy service, inpatient and outpatient dispensing services.
  • To deputise for the Lead Digital Medicines Pharmacist.

The purpose-built Pharmacy provides a clinical pharmacy service to Dorset County Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. The dispensary benefits from a new BD robot installation and a Prescription Tracking System, and an Electronic Prescribing and Medicines Administration is in use throughout the majority of the hospital.
