Trust Doctor (F2 equivalent) Emergency Department

Full time / Fixed Term Contract 12 months We have a vacancy available at junior doctor level in our Emergency Department for an internal member of staff and are seeking enthusiastic doctors who wish to gain experience in resuscitation skills, medical and surgical emergencies and the management of minor injuries.

The Emergency Department is looking to support the candidates with an excellent educational package and negotiable and attractive salaries depending on previous experience/proven ability.

Main duties of the job

As a Trust grade, you will be trained by Emergency Physicians. In addition to shop floor teaching and supervision you will receive an induction, weekly teaching which includes the use of a state of the art simulator suite. We offer a supportive environment to aid individuals in their career progression. We have a proven track record of facilitating previous Trust Grades onto local formal training programmes or to progression to Middle Grade level working in Emergency Medicine.This post is ideal for those doctors who wish to follow a career in Emergency Medicine but also General Practice, Acute medicine, General or Orthopaedic surgery. Support will be given to those doctors studying for a postgraduate examination or life support courses relevant to their career path. We would also welcome doctors from overseas with appropriate experience and qualifications.Any successful candidates will be considered for a long term contract with the aim to becoming integrated into our excellent specialty doctor tier typically taking 12-18month if so desired.

Job description

Job responsibilities

The duties will be diagnosing, initiating treatment, and arranging further management of patients who attend the Emergency Department. This will include trauma, emergency conditions which self present, or are brought to the department by the emergency services. The post holder will be supported by 24 hour ED middle grade shop floor presence 7 days a week, with 9am to 9pm ED consultant shop floor presence Monday to Friday(on phone for advice or to come in outside of thesehours).

Full-shift rota with fixed annual leave. There are weekly 4 hour ED junior doctor teaching sessions which occur in protected time. The post holder will be expected to attend the weekly afternoon teaching sessions (only when they are on shift) and occasionally present a clinicalcase at these sessions.

The post holder will also have the opportunity to take part in an audit during their time here.
