LOCUM ORTHOPAEDIC TRAUMA CONSULTANT SURGEON

Applications are invited for a Locum Trauma Orthopaedic Consultant with an interest in lower limb arthroplasty.

Main duties of the job
- To provide inpatient and outpatient Trauma and Orthopaedic services and to provide additional support to the lower limb arthroplasty services.
- To take part in our 1-in-8 consultant on-call rota

Job responsibilities
- To provide inpatient and outpatient Trauma and Orthopaedic services and to
provide additional support to the lower limb arthroplasty services.
- To take part in the 1-in-8 consultant on-call rota and conduct post-take consultant
ward rounds.
- To liaise and provide support to the Orthopaedic Treatment Service based within
primary care.
- To be part of a Multidisciplinary Team, which include Consultants in Anaesthetics
and Rheumatology (pain service), Radiology, Pathology and Elderly Care, nursing
staff, physiotherapists and Occupational Therapists.
- To contribute to the training of Higher and Basic Surgical Trainees and other
professional team members.
- To ensure a high level of efficiency and effectiveness in the provision of patient
care.
- To fulfil continuing professional development requirements in line with clinical
governance.
- To participate in audit and other areas of Directorate responsibility.
- To assist the department in meeting government targets, and take an active part
in further development of the service.
- To attend and actively participate in monthly department and education meetings.

Essential
- Full GMC Registration
- An appropriate higher trauma and orthopaedic surg/med qualification
- 18 months' clinical experience in Orthopaedics at SpR level or above (training in orthopaedic suergery)
- Experience demonstrating potential ability to cope with the demands of a DGH based Consultant
- Experience in a special interest that will complement those existing in the department
