Job summary

The senior project manager is a key role in delivering 'Your Future Hospital', an ambitious plan to transform patient care at Dorset County Hospital (DCH) by modernising the hospital estate. As part of the government's 'New Hospital Programme', DCH is making the biggest investment and expansion of the hospital estate since the late 1990s. The programme will deliver a new 'master plan' for the hospital, including a new ED and Critical Care Unit; an outpatient diagnostic and assessment centre and a new main entrance. This is a once in a generation opportunity to take part in modernising your local hospital.

Main duties of the job

An exciting new opportunity has opened up for a motivated and enthusiastic Senior Project Manager. The post holder will be working on the 'Your Future Hospital' programme and delivering a suite of projects described in the hospital 'Master Plan'. The work involves both capital projects and implementing new service models to transform care. 'Your Future Hospital' is much more than a building programme.

The post-holder will work on projects such as the national New Hospital Programme; The Outpatient Diagnostic and Assessment Centre; and other key projects to deliver the hospital's master plan. In order to be successful in this position you will need to be an experienced project manager, ideally with background of project delivery in the health sector and/or capital projects.

The successful candidate will have:

  1. A track record of delivering successful projects within recognised project management structures
  2. Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
  3. Experience of managing service change in complex organisational contexts
  4. Experience of business planning and governance in a large organisational setting
  5. A strong core set of skills including: project management, data analysis, report writing, presentation.
