Job summary

Dorset County Hospital NHS Foundation Trust has an 18 bedded Cardiac Care ward with a 4 bedded Coronary Care Unit within it. Staff work across both areas to ensure experience and exposure of acutely unwell patients is gained along with the management of patients following Cardiology procedures and discharge planning.

Dorset County Hospital has 2 Cardiac Catheter Labs and an 8 bedded Cardiac day ward/recovery which we work closely alongside. We undertake a number of cardiology procedures such as PCI (percutaneous coronary intervention), Primary PCI, Diagnostic Angiography, ICD, Bi-Ventricular and Pacemaker Implants and Transoesphageal Echo's.

Are you a motivated individual with an interest in Cardiology? If so, we have 3 full-time vacancies for Band 5 Staff Nurses to join our exciting, dynamic team.

The successful applicants will be expected to have completed or be prepared to embark on the ILS (immediate life support) course.

The expectation is that the successful applicants would rotate between days and nights.

Our working day is currently:

Day shift 07.30-20.00hrs

Night shift 19.30-08.00hrs.

We are open for discussion around hours that might suit applicants.

Team spirit, enthusiasm and the drive to deliver patient centred care are all essential requirements of prospective post holders.

Main duties of the job

We currently have vacancies for committed and enthusiastic individuals to complement our well-established friendly and professional team. The team are dedicated in delivering high quality care to patients. Part time / Full time and flexible working considered.

Applicants will be caring for patients with a wide range of acute and chronic cardiac conditions including heart failure, cardiac arrhythmias, acute coronary syndromes, and cardiogenic shock.

This offers the opportunity to manage the deteriorating patient and deliver therapies such as non-invasive ventilation, intravenous inotropes, and the intra-aortic balloon pump.

Applicants will be managing the pre and post care of patients undergoing procedures such as PCI (percutaneous coronary intervention), Primary PCI, Diagnostic Angiography, ICD, Bi-Ventricular and Pacemaker Implants and Transoesophageal Echo's.

Applicants will need to be involved in all aspects of care from admission to discharge. You will need to be able to adapt to the changing workload whilst delivering compassionate, safe high-quality care.
