Specialist Medicines Management Technician Renal

This is an exciting opportunity for a talented Pharmacy Technician wishing to gain a breadth of experience.

There is a Trust-wide commitment for implementing digital technologies to optimise patient safety and streamline communication at the interface with primary care. The Pharmacy has an automated dispensing unit which is due to be replaced next year and has fully rolled electronic prescribing (EPMA) across the Trust.

Main duties of the job

The Pharmacy department is using automation and information technology for continuing its innovation to support all pharmacy services. You will need to be able to collect and present data, meet key performance indicators and carry out audits for improvements. Your role includes promoting the highest standards of professional practice, incorporating the education facilities available to develop staff to their potential to deliver excellent care.

Working a late night on weekdays up to 6pm for late shift. Working Saturday, Sunday and Bank Holiday on a rotational basis.

EDUCATION, QUALIFICATIONS & TR

Essential

  • BTEC National Certificate in Pharmacy and/or NVQ Level 3 in Pharmacy Services or equivalent.
  • Registered Technician with GPhC
  • Accredited Checking Pharmacy Technician (ACPT) status
  • Accredited Medicines Management Technician (MMT)

Desirable

  • HEE Approved Practice Supervisor Training Programme (or working towards)

KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE

Essential

  • Significant experience as a pharmacy technician at Band 5 or above
  • Significant experience of working in and managing/supporting a ward based clinical service
  • Experience of supervision of staff; including direction of work; prioritisation skills and feedback
  • Understanding of formulary and medicines management issues.
  • Good knowledge of therapeutic drug use in clinical situations gained by continuing professional development.
  • Understanding of the legislation, procedures and protocols surrounding use of homecare services and Bluteq systems.

Desirable

  • Comprehensive understanding on JAC Pharmacy Systems and the application for dispensing, stock management and electronic prescribing
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Health and Safety issues and their implications for staff, including COSHH.

  • Demonstrate the ability to complete medicines management and discharge facilitation at ward level utilising information sources available.
