Consultant in Anaesthesia and Intensive Care Medicine

Main duties of the job
The successful applicant will join an established, successful, enthusiastic and ACSA accredited team in delivering quality anaesthetic, peri-operative and critical care services to the West Dorset population and adjoining areas. The post will include a regular clinical commitment to our Critical Care Unit.
The primary purpose of this new post is to allow the Department of Anaesthesia and Critical Care at Dorset County Hospital to expand to:
- Meet the current healthcare needs of the West Dorset population
- Meet the needs of our new build Critical Care and Emergency Department

Job responsibilities
The post holder will be part of the on-call rota, which includes cover of anaesthesia for emergency surgery, obstetric anaesthesia and intensive care medicine.
Applicants should have obtained their CCT and be on the Specialist Register, or be within six months of obtaining their CCT, before taking up the post. A higher qualification in Intensive Care Medicine is expected for this post, or equivalent experience. This may be in the form of FFICM accreditation. In addition to an Intensive Care Medicine qualification or experience, there must be evidence of training appropriate to obstetric anaesthesia, major trauma and the broad cross section of anaesthetic services provided by the Department.

- An appropriate higher qualification in Intensive Care Medicine (FFICM or equivalent) or equivalent experience
