The department provides a 24-hour service and is currently seeing around 115,000 patient attendances a year. The department performs well against national standards. We continually strive to improve further through the re-design of early patient assessment pathways, earlysenior assessment and new ambulatory and short stay programmes.
The Trust Doctor will be part of and contribute to an existing motivated, driven and enthusiastic team of ED Medical Practitioners providing excellent clinical care to patients. The ED team are valued highly by the Trust. The Trust is acutely aware of the intensity and demands within the Emergency Department and provides support to its staff on all levels
Main duties of the job
- Rapid Assessment and Focused Treatment (RAFT)
- Rotation within the developing Clinical Decision Unit to support patients in this area
- Acting as the 'Lead Registrar' in the role of EPIC (Emergency Physician in Charge) and the most senior clinician in the department overnight.
- Assessment of priority calls - paediatric and adult, medical and traumaAllocation of staff to appropriate areas when acting in capacity of EPIC (in the absence of the consultants at night)
- Prompt completion of discharge summaries and outpatient letters
- Attendance at / participation in departmental teaching
- Compliance with full-shift rota
