Paediatric Dietitian

The closing date is 22 June 2025

Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and self-motivated dietitian to broaden their experience and clinical skills in paediatric dietetics. The Paediatric Team covers a busy general paediatric department that includes inpatients, outpatient and MDT clinics, the neo natal unit and community home enteral feeding. We are fortunate to be well established within the paediatric division of the Hospital and work closely with all members of the MDT. The workload will be mostly clinic based and some ward cover.

Main duties of the job

  • To provide a specialist dietetic service to paediatric inpatients on the general and assessment wards.
  • To be responsible for the provision of paediatric outpatient clinics.
  • To undertake comprehensive assessments of patient's diet and lifestyle to formulate individualised management and treatment plans. This will include anthropometric measurements, nutritional analysis, and interpretation of biochemical data.
  • To communicate effectively with patients and parents. This includes, where necessary, using interpreters for patients where English is not a first language. This may also involve occasionally working in stressful conditions requiring the ability to react sensitively where children or parents may react unpredictably.
  • To communicate with referring agents and other agents as necessary through personal, written or telephone contact.
  • To accept clinical responsibility for a designated caseload of patients and to organise this effectively regarding clinical priorities and use of time.
