Job summary
Kingston Hospital NHS Foundation Trust is a district general hospital based approximately 12 miles from central London. The hospital is situated in a beautiful and historic part of the country and lies very close to Richmond Park, Hampton Court Palace and Kempton Park. The hospital supports around 350,000 people in the surrounding area from the boroughs of Kingston, Richmond, Roehampton, Putney, Merton and East Elmbridge.
We have approximately 520 beds and directly employ around 2,700 staff, with another 300 staff employed by contractors but working on behalf of the Trust. We are located on a single site in Kingston upon Thames, but run a number of outpatient clinics in sites across our catchment area including Raynes Park Health Centre, Surbiton Centre for Health and Teddington Memorial Hospital.
We provide a full range of diagnostic and treatment services and have a national reputation for innovative developments in healthcare, particularly in 'patient-focused' care, day surgery and maternity services.
Main duties of the job
Applications are invited for a full-time pure Rheumatology consultant post at Kingston Hospital. This is a new post, developed to provide succession planning for our team and build upon the Departments recent achievements.
Kingston Hospital Rheumatology has been at the forefront of developing community based services and our current Rheumatology service operates outreach clinics in Putney, Teddington, Surbiton, Molesey and Raynes park.
We are seeking an applicant with an interest in osteoporosis, who will be motivated and enthusiastic in moving the department forward and developing our fracture liaison service. We are supported by our excellent MSK radiology service and we have a well-established MDT that meet regularly. We have made huge progress in the development of our EIA pathways and work closely with our Primary Care and South West London colleagues as part of the Clinical Network.
The successful applicant will be required to join our plans to extend our outreach services and will spend part of their time in Community based clinics. Inreach work and ward referrals will be shared within the team.
