We are looking to appoint an innovative and high performing Trust Doctor with independent out-patient clinic practice specialising in Glaucoma and Emergency sub-specialties.
The department is a teaching environment supporting the educational and clinical development of junior trainees and non-medical teams (including Nurse Practitioners, ACPs, Orthoptists and Optometrists) to support their development within extended roles.
Main duties of the job
We are looking for an individual with specialist experience to provide new and follow-up out-patient clinics, primarily across Glaucoma, General and Emergency eye care. Depending on experience other sub-specialty clinics may be available based on service need.
The post holder will be part of the emergency eye clinic team undertaking outpatient clinics along with triage from primary care and internal ED departments across site.

There will be 2dedicated weekly administration session for audit and research.

The Post
This is a full time clinical post based at The Royal Eye Unit, Kingston Hospital, to provide elective and emergency care for ophthalmology patients as part of a multidisciplinary team working predominantly within the glaucoma service.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES/OUTCOMES:
The post holder would be expected to:
- Provide clinical advice and where appropriate treatment
- Help develop the service in accordance with Trust policy
- Support the training and supervise trainees as appropriate
- Demonstrate professional excellence and efficient delivery of care in accordance with clinical case load associated with the post.
Clinical duties
The successful candidate will be encouraged to take an active part in discussions regarding the timetable of 10 PAs. The Job plan is indicative of the key components but the exact placement of the sessions within the timetable may change. An initial proposed job plan is given below.
