Job summary

We are looking for an enthusiastic Band 6 Physiotherapist to join our dynamic Frailty team. The post holder will have good acute and community experience in a variety of acute medical presentations and pathologies, and patients presenting with frailty syndrome. They will work as part of the multidisciplinary team to assess and discharge patients in a timely and appropriate manner with involvement and referrals to our community services. This role also includes future opportunities to work in community settings across the Frailty pathway.

We are a very friendly, supportive team who are keen to recruit a physiotherapist who is keen to keep a varied caseload at band 6 level and who are looking to further expand their knowledge and skills. We actively encourage in-service training and recognise the value of supervision and appraisal.

Main duties of the job

At the discretion of management and service needs, there is an opportunity for this post to be either static within Frailty Team or rotational between Frailty Team and Care of the Elderly Inpatient wards. This will be discussed with candidates at interview.

Qualifications

Essential

  • BSc Degree in Physiotherapy
  • HCPC registration

Desirable

  • Membership of CSP or other clinical interest group

Experience

Essential

  • Relevant experience as a Junior Physiotherapist (rotations in medical, respiratory, surgery, ortho, elderly care)
  • Working knowledge of a broad range of medical conditions including frailty syndromes
  • Student or physiotherapy assistant supervision and/or education

Desirable

  • Involvement in audit, research and understanding quality issues
  • Experience of working in A&E, ED, AAU, CDU

Skills

Essential

  • Able to assess frail older people
  • Able to present information, written or orally, in a clear and logical manner
  • Able to organise, prioritise and delegate
  • Able to work as a team member
  • Able to communicate, educate, motivate and negotiate effectively with colleagues, patients and carers

Desirable

  • Up to date with current professional practice and research
  • Awareness and/or experience of assessing basic ADL function, care and equipment needs
