Job summary

This is an exciting post for a qualified, outgoing, and creative librarian / information specialist. As part of a small team the post holder with assist the Library and Knowledge Services Manager in the provision of services to support Kingston Hospital NHS Foundation Trust staff and students in using evidence-based practice in decision-making. Through developing, promoting and delivering proactive and innovative library and knowledge services, readily accessed at the point of need, this will enhance the quality of patient care and management decision making.

Main duties of the job

  • To be proactive and flexible in finding opportunities to promote the library services and alert users to the relevant services and resources by all possible means
  • To be responsible for developing innovative strategies for engaging staff in their workplaces, promoting the relevance of evidence in planning and decision making in clinical, management and service redesign scenarios
  • To promote national, regional and local library and knowledge services and resources, to Trust staff by a variety of means, identifying the need for, and delivering, further training and support for those resources as needed.
  • To create, procure and use a variety of promotional material in various formats and in various settings.
  • To develop and maintain Stenhouse Library's presence on social media platforms and work with other members of the Library Team to utilise and develop emerging and available technology to support the delivery and promotion of all Library Services.
  • Publicise and promote the Clinical librarian service using a targeted marketing strategy for the Clinical librarian service that could include producing and delivering presentations to local conferences and study days to specific individual teams and particular professional group.

  • Educated to degree level
  • Professional qualification in librarianship, information studies or information science related disciplines.

Desirable

  • CILIP - working towards chartership
  • ECDL or equivalent

Experience

  • Practical experience of working in a library or information service
  • Experience of undertaking literature searches using online databases and Internet resources
  • Ability to actively demonstrate a high level of understanding about web 2.0 technologies and how they can be used in library services

Desirable

  • Experience of working in a healthcare or academic library
