This is a new post for candidates with training in interventional and cross-sectional radiology with specialist interest in chest. We welcome applicants for this exciting opportunity to work across sites.
Main duties of the job
The current job description allows for 7.5PA at KH FT and 2.5PA at SGH and though this multi-site role has been advertised as full time, applications are welcoming from those wishing to work part-time/ those interested in a job-sharing opportunity.
The required main interests are interventional radiology with special interests in chest. Further general CT and MRI reporting experience is required along with the ability to participate in the respective Cancer MDTs as well as cover Duty radiologist sessions.
It is anticipated that remote access to allow home working will be available for all consultants as the regional RIS/PACS system come online (provisionally late 2024).
About us
Thesuccessful candidates will be part of a split interventional on-call rota across both sites alternating between SGH and KH in a to be agreed period. The KH IR on call will be covering weekends from 8am to 5pm but also joining a general 1 in 23 weekday on call on site from 5-8pm. Overnight CT between 8pm-8am is currently reported by an outsource company (4Ways).
The St. George's interventional on call will be a 1 in 10 covering either Monday to Thursday or Friday to Sunday with a flexible day in lieu following the on call period.
The interventionalists will alternate their on call commitments between both hospitals after a set period of time so that on average each provide the same amount of work to both sites.

- Full GMC Registration with License to Practice.
- CCT and on GMC's Specialist Register or within 6 months of CCT from the date of the interview or have confirmed eligibility for Specialist Registration.
Desirable
- Appropriate higher degree (e.g. MD, PhD or equivalent)
- Membership of the Royal College of Physicians (MRCP) or Surgeons (MRCS)
Clinical Experience
Essential
- Current wide range of cross-sectional experience (CT, MRI, US)
- Subspecialty experience in chest imaging.
Desirable
- Other Relevant Subspecialty Experience
- Experience of CT guided lung biopsy
