Job summary

MANAGEMENT ACCOUNTANT (PART TIME - 22.5 HOURS P.W.)

We are looking for an enthusiastic management accountant, to work with our friendly team on a part time basis.

The post holder will be responsible for the accurate and timely production of management accounts for the division (designated areas within it) following agreed monthly deadlines. They will be expected toproduce high quality financial reports and analysis, including non-financial data and identify and explain variances and trends.

Pro-actively seek ways to improve monthly reporting processes, sharing practice and challenging status quo by working collaboratively across the financial management team and the wider finance team.

The post holder will also ensure that the Finance Business Partner is made aware of the monthly journals, invoices raised and other work undertaken by maintaining and presenting workings/backing papers and any other appropriate records. They will also verbally update and escalate to the Finance Business Partner information arising in relation to financial performance or risks; in a timely manner.

The post holder is expected to ensure a customer focused service is delivered to the budget holders across the Trust and provide technical finance support to non-finance colleagues, answering queries both verballyand by email, where necessary investigating and co-ordinating answers from across the finance department and other corporate functions.

Main duties of the job

Play a key role in the production of monthly divisional management accounts and financial reports in accordance with the Trust's agreed timetable, departmental policies and procedures.

Assist the Finance Business Partners with production of monthly reports that show key financial performance indicators, investigate variances from plan and summarise and report on these in monthly reports for the Finance Business Partners.

Ensure effective monitoring processes are maintained to minimise variances.

Support budget holders by analysing trends and identifying variances through enhanced reporting techniques.

Prepare supporting documentation, journals, budget virements and invoices to be uploaded to the finance system ensuring completeness and accuracy at all times.

Respond to budget holder queries directly and on behalf of senior members of the team by investigating transactions, validating payroll and collating information to enable invoices to be raised as required. Provide appropriate and timely responses via telephone, email and at meetings.

Support communication between budget holders and other departments and encourage budget holders to follow processes and procedures.
