We have an exciting opportunity for newly qualified midwives, or midwives looking to transfer their preceptorship (Band 5) to join our Maternity Team at Kingston Hospital Foundation Trust.

We will be holding a recruitment open day on Tuesday 2nd April. You areinvited to come and join ourface-to-faceopen day onTuesday 2nd April 2024 09:00-13:00.On the day you will find out firsthand about Kingston Hospitals Acorn Preceptorship programme.

The open day will consist of:

A talk through how the programme can support your transition from NQM through to band 6 and the wealth of support on offer.

You will meet the Preceptorship lead, PDM team, and Acorns on the current programme who will be on hand to give you a firsthand account of life as an Acorn.

An opportunity to ask any questions about the Acorn Preceptorship programme.

You will also have the opportunity to tour the unit so you can get a true feel and understanding of how Kingston Hospital Maternity works.

If you are a passionate midwife with excellent communication skills and a drive to provide high quality care to women please apply to join our multi professional maternity team.

Main duties of the job

The midwife will work within the team to ensure that the needs of women, babies and families are met throughout pregnancy, delivery and the puerperium.The midwife will ensure that the service provided is of a high standard and that the environment within which the team works is safe and clean.The midwife will participate in the provision of 24-hour cover for the unit, including unsocial hours and bank holidays. This role will include rotation into Integrated Care teams with flexibility to move within team areas as the service requires. The midwife will be required to participate in their continuing professional development and other development activities

There is a dynamic and experienced practice development team who are readily available to help and support you during your clinical shifts and in your professional development. The feedback from newly qualified midwives is that the whole team is supportive with visible and accessible team leaders, professional midwifery advocates, core midwives, and ensure consolidation of your learning. When you have completed your preceptorship, you will have access to the post preceptorship programme to support your transition from a band 5 to a band 6 midwife which is tailored to your individual needs.
