Job summary

We are seeking to recruit a Consultant in Acute Medicine to work in our Acute Assessment Unit. As part of an Acute Care Consultant team of nine. The post holder will be required to participate in on call, support the Same Day Emergency Care service, provide senior clinical leadership to patients in the assessment unit and support the management of medical referrals in the Emergency Medicine Department. Opportunities to develop your specialist interest may be available. There will be ample opportunity to develop new care pathways and work across organisational boundaries to support more integrated models of care. Close working with other services within the division and hospital will also be necessary.

Main duties of the job

We have an active post graduate medical centre and comprehensive library. The successful candidate will have training opportunities, including Grand Rounds, Schwartz rounds and live Royal College of Physician's webcasts and journal club. We fully support flexible working practices and would be happy to discuss bespoke arrangements to suit personal circumstances.

About us

Kingston Hospital Foundation Trust is a thriving hospital, located close to Richmond Park, Kingston town centre and central London and is readily accessible by public transport. Our Acute Assessment Unit is comprised of 50 assessment beds and is developing a Same Day Emergency Care Unit for our Acute Emergency Care outpatients and day cases. This unit is fed directly by GP referrals and also from our Emergency Department which is a Trauma Centre seeing over 100,000 attendances per year. There are 350 acute adult inpatient beds and a 12 bedded ITU.
