An exciting opportunity has arisen to recruit a Senior Sister / Charge Nurse on Keats Ward Stroke Unit to complement our nursing team and develop a high quality workforce.

Keats ward is a 30 bedded unit which incorporates 20 acute stroke beds and 10 elderly care beds. It is a dynamic forward-thinking ward and we pride ourselves in our multi-disciplinary working. Patients are repatriated from local Hyper Acute Stroke Units (HASU's) or are admitted directly from our ED or other wards.

Main duties of the job

You will be enthusiastic, self-motivated, be adaptable to change and will complement and support the existing team of nurses and doctors. This role requires both clinical and managerial skills and a dynamic, proactive and confident clinical practitioner who has a proven track record of managing change. You will want to develop your skills and knowledge within a busy surgical area.

You will need good leadership and clinical judgement skills, as well as being an excellent communicator, motivator and team player. We are looking for a leader who is accountable and visible and who will work alongside the current team to maintain a culture that supports our Trust values.

You will need to expect and maintain high standards of care, quality and patient safety to ensure best outcomes for patients within national and local targets.

The individual must be able to work effectively and it is essential to have the ability for problem solving while working under pressure.
