Job summary

The Lead Electrical Engineer will act as a 'Appointed Person' for Electrical systems and Lifts. The Authorised Person will be responsible for the practical implementation and operation of guidance of the relevant HTM and the systems and installations required to control the risks which the Authorised person has been appointed. The duties of the Authorised Person include the appointment in writing of competent persons and make available to the Designated Person a register of all appointments.

Main duties of the job

To act as and perform the duties of the 'Appointed Person' in accordance with HTM 06 Electrical and 08 Lifts as approved by the Authorised Engineer to have the necessary technical knowledge, experience, and skills to prevent danger or injury and accept safety documentation for the Trust's Electrical systems, plant, and equipment.

The post holder will be responsible for the effective delivery and supervision of repairs, fault-finding and routine planned maintenance to all electrical services, plant and equipment at Kingston Hospital NHS Foundation Trust ensuring compliance with all Statutory Regulations, HTMs, Trust Standards, policies and procedures. workon four days on and four days off rota on a repeating eight-week schedule. Work shift pattern is 7am to 6pm.

Person Specification

Knowledge

Essential

  • Have a fully working knowledge of the current BS7671 wiring regulations
  • Have a working knowledge of building management systems and be able to operate a BMS system
  • 'Authorised Person' title acquired or to enroll

Desirable

  • Inspection & Testing

Experience

Essential

  • Minimum of four years experience gained whilst undertaking apprenticeship
  • Experience in fault finding and installation on building electrical services.

Desirable

  • Experience working in a healthcare/NHS environment
  • Have some working experience of Electrical switchgear & complex systems

Qualifications

Essential

  • Recognised traditional or modern apprenticeship, NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Engineering.
  • Member of UK Register of Electricians
  • NVQ Level 3 Installation or equivalent City and Guilds 2360 Electrical Installation Theory Part 2 Certificate
  • A valid first aid and resuscitation certificate following electric shock

Desirable

  • ECDL
  • CGLI Part 3 or equivalent
  • Annual Health and Safety or equivalent IOSH accredited course
