Job summary

We are looking to appoint two dynamic Consultant Gynaecologist and Obstetricians with an interest in outpatient gynaecology services and diagnostics, to complement our existing obstetrics and gynaecology team.

Main duties of the job

We have a busy outpatient gynaecology service offering the full range of diagnostic and therapeutic outpatient gynaecological services. Post pandemic we are determined to maintain a timely service for patients who access both our benign gynaecology and suspected gynaecological cancer services.

About us

We have two new combined Gynaecology and Obstetric Consultant posts to deliver the increased demand we are experiencing in rapid access services and general gynaecology outpatient clinics. We are looking for talented individuals with additional outpatient skills such outpatient hysteroscopy and gynaecology ultrasound. There will be twice monthly operating lists to maintain and extend operative skills.

The post holder will also contribute to the well established and busy Obstetric service with day-time labour ward cover, caesarean section lists, acute gynaecology cover and participate in the out of hours on call cover for both obstetrics and gynaecology. We are currently providing 98 hours of onsite delivery suite cover per week.

Qualifications

Essential

  • oFull GMC registration
  • oMRCOG or appropriate specialist registration
  • oCCT in O&G and on GMC's Specialist Register or within 6 months of CCT from the date of the interview or have confirmed eligibility for Specialist Registration.
  • oOutpatient Hysteroscopy ATSM or equivalent

Desirable

  • oMD/PhD
  • oATSM Labour Ward Management
  • oMOET or equivalent
  • oATSM or equivalent relevant to post e.g. Benign gynaecology laparoscopic surgery, gynae-oncology, menopause
  • oGynaecology scanning competency

Clinical Experience

Essential

  • oClinical training and experience in general Obstetrics and Gynaecology equivalent to that required for a UK CCT
  • oExperience in outpatient procedures e.g gynaecology ultrasound scanning or outpatient hysteroscopy

Specific Additional Skills

Essential

  • oExperience in developing gynaecology/rapid access guidelines

Desirable

  • oDatabase/computer skills

Management Skills

Essential

  • oAttended management training course.
  • oEvidence of ability to establish new initiatives and change management

Experience in Training, Audit and Research
