Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen within our Neurology Nursing Team at Kingston Hospital for a fixed term (12 months) Band 8a Parkinson's Disease Advanced Nurse Practitioner position. You would be joining a friendly and welcoming team of Specialist Neurology Nurses working across the hospital as well as a group of wonderfully supportive Consultants. You are expected to work as an autonomous, advanced practitioner in Parkinson's disease and effectively deliver an expert nursing service providing support and advice to the patients with Parkinson's disease from a predominantly outpatient perspective. Ideally you will have previous experience in working with people with Parkinson's and possess good integrated working skills which you will be able to utilise within our wider multi-disciplinary team. We are seeking a committed individual who is keen to make a difference to people with Parkinson's disease. We would also expect a commitment from the candidate to improve practice through on-going professional and service development.
Main duties of the job
The post holder is a recognised expert in the specialty and main point of contact for patient, families and carers, responsible for assessing, developing and implementing specialist nursing care programmes and undertaking specialist nursing pathways.
You will able to provide nurse-led clinics in hospital and participate in medical clinics within the Parkinson's service
The post holder will play a key role in supporting the medical and nursing staff providing specialist advice and support to, and liaising with, other staff. You will be responsible for implementing a clearly defined integrated approach to patient care encompassing new treatments and evidence based care. You will be required to undertake research and lead clinical audits in own specialist area.
