Job summary

Waltham Forest Memory Service 0.4 wte Band 7 to 8a Development post

Clinical Psychologist / Highly Specialist Clinical Psychologist

A vacancy has arisen for a full time Clinical Psychologist/Highly Specialist Clinical Psychologist in the multi-disciplinary Waltham Forest Memory Service in Leytonstone. Approval has been given to support the development of a suitable candidate from band 7 to 8a through support, supervision and training in specialist neuropsychological skills and psychological leadership. The post would suit either an existing band 7 seeking support, supervision and training to advance to 8a, or a newly qualified psychologist keen to build a career in old age mental health. The post is based in the multi-disciplinary Memory Service, maybe one day per week in the co-located Older People's CMHT (OPCMHT).

Main duties of the job

All of our roles will involve creative and thoughtful input including offering consultation, assessment and evidence-based interventions for clients presenting with a range of issues. This work will include individual, group, and family work. The posts would suit someone who has a strong interest in working with crisis interventions as part of a multidisciplinary team in an inpatient or home treatment setting.

We are keen to recruit the right people who share our passion for working with people in crisis. We offer excellent development opportunities including high quality and regular supervision, working groups to engage our team in current issues faced by psychology, and service improvement projects.

We also support the development of leadership skills and aim to nurture our staff and support them to become confident supervisors, devise and implement training, and conduct research. Members of the department are engaged in teaching with local DClinPsy courses and many are also involved in research and developing national best practice guidelines.

We have an in-house CPD package for all staff and receive yearly funding from Higher Education England for our staff to undertake training in models such as Systemic Family Therapy, EMDR, FLP and CBT for psychosis.
