Job summary
The Waltham Forest Primary Care Team is a friendly, creative, forward thinking team who are committed to further developing our work within our local community. We work closely with GPs, Education Services, families & local Community groups to deliver our interventions in a safe & accessible way. We offer our children & young people choice about where they receive these interventions, & work alongside them to ensure they are fully aware of the treatment options available to them.
We are looking for a peer worker to join our team to work within the team, to ensure we are offering a full, holistic, thoughtful service with our children & young people held at the very core.
Main duties of the job
- To develop a rapport with our CYP based upon respect and humanity that builds the basis of a professional relationship.
- To co-facilitate psycho-educational groups alongside a qualified member of staff.
- To consistently support service users in engagement with their agreed Care Plan and in accessing appropriate services.
- To help service users gain access to community resources.
- To attend and actively participate in care planning and team meetings.
- To participate in the review and development of the service, promoting service user involvement in the process.
- to take an active role within the Participation Team - enabling CYP to have a space to shape current services
High Cost Area Supplement - Outer London
This post also attracts payment for High Cost Area Supplement of 15% of the basic salary (with a minimum of £4,313 to a maximum of £5,436 p.a. pro rata for part time).

Probationary Period
This post will be subject to a probationary period. Internal applicants are exempt from the probationary period (unless you are an internal applicant currently part way through a probationary period or currently a bank member of staff).
Starting with NELFT
NELFT place a great deal of importance on new starters being properly welcomed and inducted into the Trust. All new starters will join the Trust on the first Monday of each month and will undertake a comprehensive induction of up to two weeks which will include mandatory training, systems training and the allocation of equipment. As part of the process new starters will have the opportunity to also meet the executive team, senior managers and attend a number of drop in sessions focussing in engagement, health and wellbeing and key processes. The induction will be held at our head office in Rainham, Essex.
Although we are a registered sponsor organisation, we are unable to offer sponsorship for some job roles, and this will be identified through filtering questions at the start of any job application on the Trac recruitment system.
