Job summary
The post holder will hold a relevant clinical qualification to degree level or equivalent in Physiotherapy and have worked recently as a physiotherapist within stroke specialist or neurology specialist services either as a community practitioner or within an identified inpatient setting.Working as part of a multi-disciplinary team, they will manage a caseload of patients with complex needs, using evidence based practise, the principles of physiotherapy practise and patient centred practise, to ensure a high quality service to all those referred to the teams.They are required to have a role in the leadership of junior staff and support assistants, through supervision, training and appraisal.
Main duties of the job
1. To complete comprehensive physiotherapy assessments, through interview, observation of functional tasks and/or use of standardised assessments for patients referred to the service with a range of complex post stroke presentations and symptoms.2. To be responsible for organising and prioritising own caseload in the day to day allocation of work, whilst being able to work flexibly to meet the needs of their patients, their relatives and carers and the service.3. To work autonomously as a lone worker in the community.4. To deputise when required in your seniors absence and delegate appropriately to more junior members of staff, support workers and rehabilitation assistants with guidance as appropriate. 5. To be responsible for training and supervision of junior staff, students, assistants and carers in the Community.6. To have organisational knowledge relating to Trust protocols and procedures and adhere to them, particularly administration of medicine and moving and handling.7. To ensure effective risk management at team level by accident/incident reporting, assessing and controlling risk and ensuring residual risks are added to the Trust register.8 To liaise closely with the multi-disciplinary team, specialist nursing staff, patient, carers and other professionals involved in care provision.9 To respect people's privacy, dignity and individuality.

Starting with NELFT
NELFT place a great deal of importance on new starters being properly welcomed and inducted into the Trust. All new starters will join the Trust on the first Monday of each month and will undertake a comprehensive induction of up to two weeks which will include mandatory training, systems training and the allocation of equipment. As part of the process new starters will have the opportunity to also meet the executive team, senior managers and attend a number of drop in sessions focusing in engagement, health and wellbeing and key processes. The induction will be held at our head office in Rainham, Essex.
