Job summary

An opportunity has arisen for a vibrant, suitably qualified, BPC, UKCP and BACP registered Specialist Psychodynamic Psychotherapist to join our dynamic Waltham Forest secondary care adult mental health psychological service. This is a permanent, full-time post in the secondary care. We are happy to consider candidates interested in job share/flexible/part-time options. This post involves carrying out psychological assessments and interventions, offering consultation and supervision to members of the multi-disciplinary teams.

The post holder would join a well-established, well-respected team of psychologists and psychodynamic psychotherapists. We are a friendly, collaborative and supportive team who deliver individual and group psychotherapy interventions to adults with complex mental health difficulties.

This post would suit someone with a strong interest in multidisciplinary working, working with service-users who present with complexity and significant levels of risk. The post holder will join a supportive group of psychologists offering outpatient psychodynamic therapy.

Experience of psychological assessment and treatment of clients with secondary care mental health problems within the NHS is essential.

Applicants should have a Psychodynamic Psychotherapy training to Masters level leading to full registration with: UKCP (CPC, CMP, CPJAC, HIPC); BPC; BACP or Doctorate in Clinical Psychology or Counselling Psychology with a specialism in psychodynamic psychotherapy

Main duties of the job

The postholder will;

  • provide psychological assessment and therapeutic interventions (individual and group) to adults with complex mental health difficulties.
  • provide enhanced specialist psychological clinical assessment, working within the policies, procedures and protocols applicable to the service.
  • have highly developed skills in the assessment and management of clinical risk and mental health conditions
  • undertake risk assessments and risk management for patients with complex mental health conditions providing expert advice to colleagues on the psychological aspects of risk assessment and its management and effectively documented in a timely manner when needed.

About us

Starting with NELFT

NELFT place a great deal of importance on new starters being properly welcomed and inducted into the Trust. All new starters will join the Trust on the first Monday of each month and will undertake a comprehensive induction of up to two weeks which will include mandatory training, systems training and the allocation of equipment. As part of the process new starters will have the opportunity to also meet the executive team, senior managers and attend a number of drop-in sessions focusing on engagement, health and wellbeing and key processes. The induction will be held at our head office in Rainham, Essex.

Probationary Period

This post will be subject to a probationary period. Internal applicants are exempt from the probationary period (unless you are an internal applicant currently part way through a probationary period or currently a bank member of staff).

High-CostArea Supplement

This post also attracts payment for High-Cost Area Supplement of 15% of the basic salary (minimum payment of £4,313 and a maximum payment of £5,436 per annum pro rata).
