Job summary

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Physiotherapist in Learning Disabilities who is looking forward to full-time Band 7 position.

We welcome, encourage and strongly support applicants interested in the possibility for developmental opportunity as part of carrier progression from Band 6 to Band 7 within field of Learning Disabilities.

The post holder will be providing a high standard community physiotherapy service to adults with learning disabilities (LD) and complex needs in a Redbridge Community Learning Disability Team. The post holder will support the professional lead physiotherapist and the Service Manager in ensuring a high-quality service is delivered, providing consultation and training where required. The post holder will work in a collaborative way as part of an integrated team compromising of health & social professionals and other important stake holders. The post holder will be a Registered Physiotherapist responsible for patients allocated to them, assess, risk manage, plan and deliver care, supporting LeDER case studies, equipment management and care co-ordination thus being professionally and legally accountable. The post holder will be fully supported by Professional Lead Physiotherapist for supervision, appraisal, professional duties and responsibilities. The successful candidate may be offered welcome payment in support of their move to work for the organisation (subject to management and HR approval).

Main duties of the job

  • To provide a range of specialised physiotherapy interventions for learning disability service users (18 years of age and above) with complex needs within London Borough of Redbridge.
  • To work as part of the Community Learning Disability Team delivering high quality physiotherapy care as part of a multi professional service/team within the community.
  • To work with service users, carers, family members, health professionals and other stake holders to maintain best possible care for improving quality of life for individual clients with very complex needs.
  • To provide intensive intervention where appropriate to prevent hospital admissions and maintain service users within their home/community settings.
  • To be responsible for organising and prioritising own and others workload in the day-to-day allocation of work.
  • To deputise when required in the line manager's absence and delegate work appropriately to other colleagues.
  • To have organisational knowledge relating to Trust protocols and procedures and adhere to them, particularly moving and handling.
  • To ensure effective risk management at team level by accident/incident reporting, assessing, and controlling risk and ensuring residual risks are added to the Trust register.

Starting with NELFT

NELFT place a great deal of importance on new starters being properly welcomed and inducted into the Trust. All new starters will join the Trust on the first Monday of each month and will undertake a comprehensive induction of up to two weeks which will include mandatory training, systems training and the allocation of equipment. As part of the process new starters will have the opportunity to also meet the executive team, senior managers and attend a number of drop in sessions focussing in engagement, health and wellbeing and key processes. The induction will be held at our head office in Rainham, Essex.

High Cost Area Supplement - Outer London

This post also attracts payment for High Cost Area Supplement of 15% of the basic salary (with a minimum of £4,313 to a maximum of £5,436 p.a. pro rata for part time).
