Job summary

Currently there is an exciting opportunity within the NELFT Healthcare Informatics Team as a Transition Engineer (Permanent). The post is located in CEME, Rainham, Essex.

The post holder will be responsible forproviding transition support/rollout of ICT equipment across all NELFT business units with frequent travel across a large geographical area. They will work as part of the ICT Transition team, providing high level face-to-face and telephone support to end users during the transition phase of projects.

Main duties of the job

  • Assist in delivering a range of ICT related projects as assigned by the Head of Transition.
  • Provide 1stand2ndLine support during the transition phase of ICT Projects giving advice and guidance to staff from requests raised directly with the team and from the Trust's service desk call logging system.
  • Produce formal project documentation to the standards defined by the Head of Transition for handover to the Operational BAU Support team.
  • Rollout ICT equipment (Desktops, Laptops, Agile Stations, VC Units, etc.) across the Trust, using the Trust's service desk call logging system to manage all rollouts.
  • Manage and schedule site visits, as required.
  • Support an Agile User base and travel to sites, as and when required.
  • Remotely support end-users using available remote desktop software.
  • Maintain effective communication with the user base in the event of problems. Engage in proactive support for all clients in order to prevent reoccurring errors.
  • Undertake surveys of user requirements and recommend best options.
  • Maintain the ICT Asset Management Systems.
  • Diagnose issues related to desktop hardware, networks, servers and other infrastructure including Active Directory, Microsoft Exchange and Cisco Telephony systems.
  • Be aware of the technologies, ITIL processes, ISO standards and procedures in use within the department

Starting with NELFT

NELFT place a great deal of importance on new starters being properly welcomed and inducted into the Trust. All new starters will join the Trust on the first Monday of each month and will undertake a comprehensive induction of up to two weeks which will include mandatory training, systems training and the allocation of equipment. As part of the process new starters will have the opportunity to also meet the executive team, senior managers and attend a number of drop in sessions focussing in engagement, health and wellbeing and key processes. The induction will be held at our head office in Rainham, Essex.

Probationary Period

This post will be subject to a probationary period. Internal applicants are exempt from the probationary period (unless you are an internal applicant currently part way through a probationary period or currently a bank member of staff).

High Cost Area Supplement

This post also attracts payment for High Cost Area Supplement of 15% of the basic salary (with a minimum of £4,313 to a maximum of £5,436).
