Job summary
This is a substantive Specialty Doctor post in an existing team and will offer the post holder the opportunity to play an active clinical leadership role within the team. The post holder is accountable to the Dementia and Crisis Support Team (DCST) Consultant in Old Age Psychiatry and will work with an expert multidisciplinary team.
DCST have both RMN and RGN background, Administrators and Support Workers who have experience in ICT, inpatient, and Mental Health services. In addition the team work collaboratively with the Dementia Specialist Lead for Thurrock Council who provides a direct pathway into Thurrock Health and Social Care Partnership. The role of DCST is to provide a rapid response service and assessment to those patients with cognitive impairment, with or without a diagnosis of dementia and/or their carers who are experiencing a crisis.

- Registration with the GMC with a licence to practice.

- Section 12 Approval or eligibility for it.
Clinical Experience
Essential
- Mastery in the management of a broad range of mental disorders
- At least 4 years of full time postgraduate training (or its equivalent gained on a part-time basis) of which at least 2 years will be in a specialty training programme in a relevant specialty or as a fixed term specialty trainee or shall have equivalent experience and competencies.
Desirable
- Experience in general medicine
Knowledge
Essential
- Good knowledge of the biological, psychological and social determinants of mental health disorders and evidence based management interventions.
Desirable
- Evidence of change management skills
Clinical Skills

- Excellent clinical skills.
- Ability to effectively manage time and plan work independently
