Job summary
Thurrock First is the Single Point of Access for Social Care, Mental Health and Community Health for people over the age of 18. The Team consists of a Team Manager, Senior Coordinators and 14 Thurrock First Advisors. The Team aims to resolve queries as much as possible at the first point of contact. This means the provision of information and advice to help people to self-manage or routing people to the right health and social care teams. The Team also carry out Adult Social Care, care and support needs assessments and reviews.
The Team is a vital first point of contact for people requiring information, advice and support regarding their physical health, mental health and adult social care.
Thurrock First operates 7 days a week and 365 days per year.
We are an integrated service with partners in Thurrock Council, NELFT and EPUT.

Main duties of the job
The post holder will support the team to develop to deliver access to services for Thurrock residents needing support with Adult Social Care, Mental Health or Community Nursing.
- Working with and developing good relationships and lines of communication with partners to ensure the team are up to date with services offered and service developments - as well as ensuring they are able to offer service alternatives to reduce, prevent, delay the need for long term health and social care intervention.
- Being responsible for a staff group within the overall Thurrock First Team - which will include carrying out all tasks involved with managing people (e.g. performance reviews, development, supervision etc.)
- Use initiative and autonomy to identify development and improvement opportunities for their area of expertise - and for the team as a whole - which may include leading on projects and working groups and undertaking research and best practice.
- Embody and embed a strength-based approach within the Team and when identifying solutions - ensuring a Team focus on 'what matters' to the person requiring support.
- Encourage and empower team members through leadership to identify and deliver improvement ideas and opportunities.
- Provide robust analysis of performance against the Team's purpose

Probationary Period
This post will be subject to a probationary period. Internal applicants are exempt from the probationary period (unless you are an internal applicant currently part way through a probationary period or currently a bank member of staff).
Starting with NELFT
NELFT place a great deal of importance on new starters being properly welcomed and inducted into the Trust. All new starters will join the Trust on the first Monday of each month and will undertake a comprehensive induction of up to two weeks which will include mandatory training, systems training and the allocation of equipment. As part of the process new starters will have the opportunity to also meet the executive team, senior managers and attend a number of drop in sessions focusing in engagement, health and wellbeing and key processes. The induction will be held at our head office in Rainham, Essex.
High Cost Area Supplement - London
This post also attracts payment for High Cost Area Supplement of 5% of the basic salary (minimum payment of £1,192 and a maximum payment of £2,011 per annum pro rata).
